Art Supply Tray

Used proportional dividers.

Guitar

The first one was done just by sight. Then I drew it again after gauging the proportions with a divider.

Two Clocks

I intended to just draw the shapes of the frames on the mantle, but instead got caught up drawing our actual wedding photo, and then ran out of time after the clock.

Here's the same clock from a few weeks ago. The improvement isn't huge, but it's real.

Value Sketches of a Mug

This was awesome. The first three came out looking terrible, but they helped me figure out what I was doing, and the fourth actually looks like a mug!

New Book, Structural Sketches

I've arrived at the tonal values (shading) chapter of "Drawing for the Utter and Absolute Beginner," and I'm definitely not ready to move on to that. I looked at "Drawing for the Absolute Beginner" and the early chapters seem richer in basics so I've started that one now. This is the first exercise, Structural Sketches. It was important for me to scan and post the face so that hopefully, some day I'll be able to compare it to something better. It's Deb, failing to keep her eyes open in front of the TV.

Purell

Definitely improvement between the first and the third, mostly because none of the lines are throw-away, and I made sure the cap was centered:

Ceiling Fan

Wall-Ceiling Junction

This was tough to get right. First, I screwed up the sides, as if I was above a transparent ceiling:

Then I think I made the walls angle up too high:

This was better. The shaded part is parallel to the floor and ceiling, but a separate tier. I don't know what it's called.

I don't know why this simplified version just doesn't work:

Giant Vase with Wooden Legs

Open Book

The area at the top where the left (curved) page meets the right (flat) page is illusory. It doesn't curve the whole way-- it straightens out. I got it right the second time.

It's a centerfold!

Attempts at Star-Shaped Vase

I couldn't get the ratio between the opening and the height right, even after taking a digital photo and measuring with it.
